Grow Your Own Forest Project

The Garden Club of Mount Tabor is now part of the Grow Your Own Forest Project.

We have so far identified these trees eligible for free tree cages to protect them during crucial phases of their development:

Acer saccharum1 (Corner of St. John’s and Morris Ave.))

Carya cordiformis 1 (edge of pond)

Carya ovata 1 (the one that was weed-whacked and growing back by pond)

Liriodendron tulipifera 2 (sapling in meadow on slope near pond)

Quercus palustris 1 (seedling by pond)

Quercus palustris 2 (taller seedling by pond)

Quercus rubra 1 (sapling in meadow on slope by pond)

We have marked these trees with pink flagging tape and/or orange flags. The Garden Club is committed to stewarding these trees for future generations. You can help! We need to monitor, mark, and care for these trees over the next several years.
